I had a great surprise on my last visit to the shop, when I met up with BamBam88 super designer extraordinaire GOCCODO! According to Ikegami-san, Shigeta-san (GOCCODO) has designed around 15 or so Kinnikuman T Shirts, with his recent efforts making the bulk of the new crazy rad KMA series.
In addition to being an incredibly talented sketch artist, GOCCODO is also very well known and respected for his work in the sofubi world. It was a real honor getting to talk with him for a while about Kinnikuman, design work, molding and casting, and my favorite subject, Kinkeshi!

While the flagship Kinnikuman Muscle Shop resides in Koenji, the BamBam88 crew runs a few temporary specialty shops throughout Japan at any given time. The idea is to give Niku fans throughout Japan access to exclusive Kinnikuman merchandise, while also creating direct geographical significance to the actual store location.
The Sunshine City shop for example is a nod to the character Sunshine, as Yudetamago named and designed him after the Sunshine 60 building. Where this particular shop is located in the Sunshine City complex, many of the exclusive shirt designs featured Sunshine hovering menacingly over the building's exterior.
I have been to a few of these over the years, and have to say that this location is without a doubt one of the best setups I have seen. The selection of T-Shirts, hats, accessories and toys is top notch, with plenty of Gaijin friendly sizes in almost every design to boot! I was also impressed with the friendliness of the staff, and the awesome Kinnikuman music playing in the background.

Five Star Toy is ratcheting up their Nostalgic Sofvi Collection production with the announcement of their new FST Collaboration Color Spectrum. The shops listed below can now collaborate with Five Star to
release blank sculpts from the existing Kinnikuman catalog in their own exclusive branded colorway.
While stores like TOYFUL have been doing this for quite some time now, it is exciting to see other toy heavyweights like Hobby Net, Yamashiroya, and Ganking jumping into to the mix. Ganking will ship overseas, so I cannot wait to see some slick green Kinnikuman vinyl on my shelf!
