Yudetamago-Sensei ~ Part I

Day one in Japan, and I'm already on Kinnikuman overload!  Monster sized thanks to the Yudetamago crew for an incredible evening!

Shimada-sensei and ol' 100t

Much of the night was spent discussing how much Yudetamago appreciates their fans from all over the world.  It was great sharing stories about the passion and dedication of their supporters, and how this iconic franchise has created lasting friendships transcending cultural and geographical borders.

Yudetamago has some amazing things in the works for Kinnikuman fans, and I am really excited to know that the Kinnikuman legacy is alive and burning.  Shimada-sensei sends his sincere thanks to all of you!

A few pics until next time ~

Nisei Choujin Tag Arc Comes to a Close

The Kinnikuman Nisei Kyukyoku Choujin Tag Arc has come to a close.

Image Compliments of Yudetamago

Big thanks to Yudetamago for continuing to put out fantastic material and for keeping the Kinniku legacy alive!

I really enjoyed the last big match with Thunder and Lightning and continue to be impressed with the humanity that Mantaro shows his defeated opponents. Very reminiscent of some of the themes in the Kajiba no Kuso-jikara Arc.

Really looking forward to whatever they have in store for us next ~ 肉

Kinnikuman Nisei Choujin Recruitment Collection

Anyone keeping up with the latest chapters of Nisei will notice a spot on the last page advertising the  キン肉マンⅡ世募集コレクション (Kinnikuman Nisei Choujin Recruitment Collection).  Each week Yudetamago has been featuring two new Choujin submitted by fans, re-drawn and Yude-ized by Nakai-sensei!

 Image Compliments of Yudetamago

What a cool idea to give dedicated fans a chance to submit an original Choujin for a possible appearance in an upcoming chapter of Nisei.

From what I can tell, you submit an original Choujin (drawing + super basic info), along with your personal info to:

Shueisha Weekly Playboy
Kinnikuman Nisei Choujin Boshuu  (キン肉マンⅡ世募集コレクション)
2-5-10 Hitotsubashi Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo
101-8050 JAPAN

If you character is selected you will receive a Kinnikuman Nisei portrait, a neato T Shirt + a permanent place in Kinniku history!

As far as the disclaimer goes, it does say something along the lines of by submitting your drawing, you are releasing and relinquishing all claims and rights to the character, which will become property of Shueisha and Yudetamago etc.  I have no other advice or insights into this process other than what I have posted here... sorry.

While I am not sure if they are even accepting submissions from outside of Japan,  I thought I would share the latest member of the Nama Choujin family:

Gyu-Dome

I came up with the idea for making a Gyudon based Choujin as Kinnikuman is such a sucker for for the dish in the original series.  Big thanks to my buddy, Eric Nillia, for doing this killer drawing based on my Gyu-Dome Namakeshi design!

Kinnikuman presents Green Lantern (seriously)

Kinnikuman x Green Lantern

Image Compliments of Yudetamago

Foreign films debuting in Japan often use an interesting advertising technique incorporating Japanese celebrities (not appearing in the film) into much of the promotional materials.  The aim of the game is to give foreign films a reputable Japanese stamp of approval, thus making them more appealing to a wider audience who may not be familiar with the "foreign" subject matter.

At any rate, Yudetamago and the Kinnikuman franchise were selected to promote the opening of Green Lantern in Japan this week.

If you've been following Shimada-sensei on Twitter, you will notice that he was invited to the Japanese premiere of the film and also asked to do a promotional write-up for the movie.  In addition to this, Yudetamago are holding a special fan art contest to promote the film with the winner going home with an original piece of Kinnikuman art.  (The contest is however only available to people residing in Japan so I will skip the details).

While I must admit that I am not a regular Green Lantern reader, I really enjoyed reading the entire DC Universe Blackest Night story arc last year.  Great stuff, but I generally stick to all things Batman when it comes to DC.

This is a very cool opportunity for Yudetamago, and I am rather pleased they were considered to take on a project like this.  Now if only we could get a live action Kinnikuman film made!
